The Nyoongar Outreach Service is able to do the following: • Maintain a street presence by undertaking regular foot patrols • Working towards defusing conflict through mediation • Improve co-operation between Aboriginal people and the law • Provide transport for clients to a safe place • Work with homeless people to organise short and long term accommodation • Make referrals to sobering/refuge centres • Assist people to access appropriate government and non-government agencies and their services • Be aware of health and welfare needs of Aboriginal people and make appropriate referrals. • Improve public relations with the business community • Liase with the local retailers regarding specific issues
