The Ombudsman can investigate complaints about the actions and decisions of Australian Government agencies, and certain private entities, to see if they are wrong, unjust, unlawful, discriminatory or just plain unfair.
If an Australian Government agency has treated you unfairly or unreasonably, the Office can help you find a solution. Our service is free and we are independent.
The Commonwealth Ombudsman makes sure the actions of Federal government agencies are fair and responsible by:
- handling complaints
- conducting investigations
- performing audits and inspections encouraging good administration
- providing oversight of the Commonwealth Public Interest Disclosure scheme.
